Make the Right Decision When It Comes to Blister Packaging

Blister packaging is a type of plastic packaging used for small consumer items and pharmaceuticals. The majority of it is made of thermoformed plastics. A blister pack’s backing is usually made of paperboard, aluminum foil, or even plastic sheeting.

Where is Blister Packaging Used

In the pharmaceutical industry, blister packaging, or unit dose packaging, is used to package medicines. Blister packaging is made from a plastic sheet that is thermoformed into cups or blisters to hold the product. In addition to pharmaceuticals, blister packaging is used in many other fields. In addition to being theft-deterrent, tamper-evident, and providing good protection, blister packs are low-cost packaging.

Physical Properties

Blister packaging is commonly made from different types of polymers, such as PVC, PVDC, PCTFE, COP, and others. The most common blister packaging material is PVC or polyvinyl chloride.

The main advantage of PVC is its low cost. Blister packs are made from PVC sheets measuring 0.25 to 0.3mm thick. To improve the barrier properties of packaging, PVDC or polyvinylidene chloride is used along with PVC sheets. It provides excellent protection against oxygen and moisture.

‍PCTFE Polychlorotrifluoroethylene is another form of blister packaging laminate. The primary purpose of PCFTE is to act as a moisture barrier. PCFTE has the lowest water vapor permeation rate of all polymers.

‍COP or cyclic olefin polymers, as well as cyclic olefin copolymers, improve thermoforming in blister packs and even provide good barrier properties. Blister packs with deep pockets can be made when COP is combined with polypropylene and polyethylene. The packaging of medicines requires these items.

Manufacturers of blister packaging also use PVC, aluminum, and polyamide cold-form packaging.

Blister packs have the following notable physical properties:

  • Water resistance: The thermoformed polymer protects the inner contents from water, water vapor, or other liquids. The water resistance of the entire packaging is also determined by the rear cover. The water resistance of blister is reduced if the rear lid is made of paper.
  • Barrier properties: Blister packaging provides excellent protection against oxygen and moisture. The barrier properties of blister packaging improve as more layers of polymers are incorporated into the manufacturing process.
  • UV protection: The blister can be made transparent so that UV radiation cannot penetrate the packaging. The metalized PVC completely blocks all UV radiation and extends the shelf life of perishables.
  • Tamper Evident: Blister packs can’t be reused. A blister pack cannot be closed easily once it has been opened. Blister packs can also be quite hard to open and require cutting tools, depending on their implementation.
  • High Product Visibility: Blister packs make the product visible. In this way, consumers can make well-informed decisions when purchasing products. Using blister packs for medicines allows users to see the capsules or tablets directly. It is much easier to identify medicines this way.

What is a bottle packing machine?

In the packaging of food and beverage products, a bottle packing machine helps improve aesthetics.

Bottle packing machines are used to pack liquids, solids, and bottle cleaners. Some of the bottle packaging machines can also be used as plastic bottle sealing machines for sealing liquids.

Bottle packing machines

Packaging machines for liquids, water bottles, and water bottles are ideal for packing spices, saving energy, and preserving drinks. Bottles of mineral water need a stapleuous mineral water bottle, as well as soil and spice shoulders.

Mineral water bottles are made from solids, liquids, and mineral water. Mineral water bottles, solids, and liquids are typically labeled with this type of bottle packaging machine. To have a wide variety of water bottle packing machines, grocery stores use stapleuous water bottle packing machines.
